Facts About Buffy Fish Owl
The Buffy Fish-Owl, also called the Malay Fish-Owl, is a local bird. Its Malay name, ‘Ketumbuk Ketampi” describes the up-down motion of its head just like continuously performing squats.
This owl has distinctive physical features, such as brilliant yellow eyes, a white spot between its eyebrows and prominent ear tufts.
The Buffy Fish-Owl can be found in Southeast Asia.
It inhabits woody areas near water, mangroves and paddy fields, as its diet consist mostly rat, insects and other aquatic life.
Its breeding season is from September to January. It will produce 1 egg in one season. The eggs will hatch after 28 - 29 days.
